How to Use this website

Welcome to the new ICGP Education website. This website has been developed for use by members of the Irish College of General Practitioners as the leading online education portal for primary care in Ireland.

Currently access is restricted to members having an ID and PIN issued by the ICGP and access is controlled through a common log in with the ICGP. For those who have used this website previously, it will mean you no longer have a separate username and password and you will use your existing ID and PIN provided by the ICGP.  This should make log in easier for you.

Logging in

When you go to enter a course you will now be asked for your ID and PIN. If you are already logged into the ICGP website, you will not have to enter your ID and PIN again.

New users

For some users you will be asked for two additional pieces of information, when you first log in. These are your email address and Medical Registration Number.  We need these to facilitate managing your account and they will not be used for any other purpose, or shared.

Completing a course

Currently there are three types of course on ICGP-Education:

1.eLearning Courses

2.Forum MCQ's

3.Short Courses

eLearning Courses

To complete an eLearning course simply choose the course you wish to complete. Most courses have between 3 and 6 lessons and will require you to complete a short MCQ assessment. Within each lesson there will be a primary video lesson (normally around 10 minutes) and a number of supplementary resources to review.

The MCQ assessment is based on the full module and should be completed when you feel ready. The assessment is based on all aspects of the course. Simple press the Take MCQ button and progress through the quiz. You can repeat the MCQ as often as you like, but you may get different questions each time.

The pass mark for the MCQ is 80%.

Only when  you have achieved this mark, will you be able to print your completion record (certificate)  from this website. You can (recommended) save this record to your local PC also and this option will be offered to you.

Forum MCQ

Every month a new Forum MCQ will be added. Currently the latest 8 months are available. When logged in you can simply proceed to your chosen month. Simple press the Take MCQ button and progress through the quiz. You can repeat the MCQ as often as you like.

The pass mark for the MCQ is 80%.

Only when you have achieved this mark, will you be able to print your completion record (certificate) from this website. You can (recommended) save this record to your local PC also and this option will be offered to you.

Short Courses

There are a number of short courses on this website. These courses form part of a blended learning approach to ICGP training and are only available to those taking the course. Contact Jana Pickard in the ICHP for more information on these courses:
